What happens to your money when plans change — the void window, the fare rules behind each ticket, our fees, and how long a refund actually takes to reach your statement.
Every ticket you buy through buybusinessclass is issued on the operating carrier's stock and governed by that carrier's fare rules. Depending on the fare, it is issued on our own accredited plate or on the plate of an accredited ticketing partner acting on our behalf. Either way we are the travel agent of record and the merchant of record: we hold the booking, we speak to the airline on your behalf, and we return money to the card you paid with. What we cannot do is override a fare rule the airline set.
That means the honest answer to "can I get my money back?" is always the same two-part answer — what the fare allows, and what we charge to process it. Both are shown to you before you pay, on the fare conditions panel of every itinerary, and both are repeated in your confirmation email.
Tickets issued for travel originating in the United States can be cancelled for a full refund within 24 hours of issuance, provided the booking was made at least seven days before departure. This follows US Department of Transportation rule 14 CFR 259.5(b)(4). We apply it to every eligible booking, and we waive our own service fee inside that window.
Outside the United States the void window depends on the carrier and the point of sale. Many of our partners offer an equivalent 24-hour grace period voluntarily; some do not. The fare conditions panel tells you which applies before you pay.
Premium cabins are sold in fare families that differ far more in flexibility than in on-board product. Two travellers in adjacent Business Class seats may hold tickets with entirely different cancellation rights. The table below describes the families you will typically see on buybusinessclass.
Where a fare is non-refundable, the unused government taxes and airport charges attached to it usually remain refundable. We file those claims for you on request; the carrier may apply a handling charge of its own.
We charge for work we actually do, and we would rather show you the number than bury it in a fare component. Carrier penalties are separate and are set by the airline.
If the carrier cancels your flight, or changes the schedule materially, the fare rules stop applying and passenger-rights regulation takes over. You are entitled to a rebooking on the next available service or a full refund of the unused portion — including on tickets sold as non-refundable.
Call the concierge line on +1 (888) 322-7999 or write to info@buybusinessclass.com quoting your booking reference. Requests are timestamped when we receive them, which is the moment that counts for the 24-hour window — not when we reply.
We submit refund requests to the carrier the same business day we receive them. What happens next is largely out of our hands, but these are the ranges we see in practice.
Refunds are always returned to the original form of payment, in the original currency. We cannot redirect a refund to a different card, a different person or a bank transfer — that restriction is a fraud control imposed by the card schemes, not a policy of ours. Any difference in the amount you receive is the result of exchange-rate movement between the purchase and the refund, which your issuer sets.
The optional trip protection offered at checkout is underwritten by a third-party insurer, not by buybusinessclass. It covers cancellation for defined reasons, delay, medical expenses and baggage, up to the limits shown in the certificate you receive by email.
Insurance claims are made directly with the insurer and are decided against the policy wording, independently of this refund policy. The premium itself is refundable in full if you cancel within 24 hours of purchase and have not made a claim.
If you believe a refund has been mishandled, tell us first. We can usually resolve it faster than a card dispute, and we will escalate to the carrier's agency support desk on your behalf at no charge.
Filing a chargeback while a refund is already in progress typically freezes the ticket: most carriers suspend processing once funds are disputed, which delays the money you are owed rather than accelerating it. Where a chargeback is raised against a valid, used or correctly cancelled ticket, we reserve the right to recover the disputed amount and any scheme fees.
We update this policy as carrier practice and passenger-rights regulation change. The version in force at the moment of ticket issuance is the one that applies to your booking, and we archive superseded versions — ask the concierge if you need a copy.
